Background: This scholarship was established at the 秀色短视频 in memory of Percy and Helen (Mooney) Murphy of Elmira, PEI. This award was created by their daughter Joan (Murphy) Duffy and her husband Regis Duffy in respect and appreciation of the Murphy's commitment to family and lifelong learning. Helen attended St. Mary's convent until the end of high school and obtained her teacher's license at Prince of Wales College in 1928. Helen taught at Clear Springs, Greenvale and Elmira schools. She met and married Percy Murphy and had a family of six children. Percy worked on the railroad and together they established the P.J. Murphy General Store in Elmira. Helen was secretary of many organizations and helped countless children through their difficulties with school-related assignments and projects. She e specially enjoyed helping the 4-H children with their public speaking. Helen lived into her 95th year, passing away in July 2004. Percy Murphy worked on the C.N. Railway for thirty-five years. Together with Helen, he ran the store. This was part of the family home, and in the evenings, Percy became the community barber in his shop above the store. He also served as a school board trustee, and in the early years, enjoyed his hobby of raising silver foxes and Muscovy ducks. He died in January 1975.
