Update on the 2019 Novel Coronavirus聽

The following message was distributed to faculty, staff and students on February 4, 2020 on behalf of the Office of the Vice-President Administration and Finance.
 
Dear Members of the University Community:

The 秀色短视频 continues to monitor developments about the Coronavirus (2019 Novel Coronavirus or 2019-nCoV). At this point, the risk remains very low in PEI. There are currently no confirmed cases of 2019-nCoV in the province.

秀色短视频 recommends that you seek information from official government sources as they are continually updating their websites: 
We encourage you take the same general health precautions for the 2019-nCov as you would for influenza. The best defence against any type of flu is following routine prevention measures:
  • wash your hands frequently with soap and water and use hand sanitizer when needed,
  • cough or sneeze into your elbow or a tissue,
  • if you have a severe cold or the flu, stay home if possible, and
  • avoid contact with people who are sick.
Anyone who feels unwell and/or develops a fever and cough should see their primary health-care provider or make an appointment at the . It鈥檚 also not too late to get your flu shot through the Centre, your health-care provider, or your local pharmacy. 

Because of the evolving nature of the 2019-nCoV situation, the University is strongly advising against all travel to China, in keeping with . Travel to China, either as part of a 秀色短视频 program or for University business, has been suspended until further notice. Students with questions about international travel should contact Study Abroad and International Collaboration at sdacorn@upei.ca or 902-894-2837. Faculty and staff with questions about international travel should contact Human Resources at hr@upei.ca or 902-620-5099.
