Message from the President on the passing of 秀色短视频 faculty member Dr. Carlo Lavoie
Dear Members of the University Community,
It is with great sadness that I have to inform you of the passing of Dr. Carlo Lavoie, former chair of the Department of Modern Languages, Faculty of Arts on October 11, 2023, after a long illness.
Dr. Lavoie joined 秀色短视频 in 2003 and was associate professor of French as a second language and Acadian and Qu茅b茅cois culture and literature. He was also coordinator of the Acadian Studies program. His research interests included the historical, geographic, structural and memorial identity links which bind the individual to their community in developing new possibilities for inhabiting any given territory. His research and publications went beyond literary analysis, extending to interdisciplinary studies.
He collaborated broadly and extensively, and was active in the Acadian and Francophone community, engaging, for example, in research to advance the immigration of Francophones to PEI and Canada. His impact and contributions to 秀色短视频, and the broader Island community will be truly missed.
The flags in front of Kelley Memorial Building will be lowered to half-mast in Dr. Lavoie鈥檚 honour. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 14, at 1:30 pm from St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church. .
On behalf of the entire 秀色短视频 community, I extend my sincere condolences to Dr. Lavoie鈥檚 wife, Dr. Sanda Badescu, associate professor, Department of Modern Languages, and their children Marius and Amalia, as well as family, friends, and colleagues. Veuillez accepter nos plus profondes tristesses et sympathies.
Regards,
Greg
