AVC student earns national bovine health scholarship
The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the 秀色短视频 congratulates Casey Whitehouse, a third-year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) student, on receiving a 2023 Merck Animal Health Bovine Scholarship.
The scholarships were awarded at the 2023 American Association of Bovine Practitioners (AABP) annual conference, held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in September. Whitehouse was among the 18 winners who each received $5,000. While she was not at the conference to receive the award in person, she is humbled to receive this accolade.
鈥淚t means a great deal for me to be recognized for my academics, work experience, and career goals within bovine practice among a very competitive group of my peers,鈥 said Whitehouse. 鈥淚 am thankful for these funds as they will certainly help alleviate some financial stress that comes with a veterinary degree on top of raising a family.鈥
While PEI is now home for her and her family, Whitehouse is originally from Maine. There, she worked as a veterinary technician in mixed animal practice before she made the decision to become a veterinarian. Her goal after graduating is to practice food animal medicine.
"At the AVC, Casey's commitment is truly inspiring,鈥 says Dr. John VanLeeuwen, interim dean. 鈥淲e take great pride in her recognition by Merck and the AABP, and we are excited to witness her growth as a DVM student."
Scholarship recipients were selected based on their academic achievements, career goals, work experience, and interest in bovine veterinary medicine.
