Sessional Instructors - Faculty of Education
The Faculty of Education at the ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ has openings for sessional instructors to teach the following courses in second summer session 2024. The offering of the course is conditional pending final enrolment numbers. All positions are subject to final budgetary and administrative approval.
Please note: the courses offered below will be taught in person, unless otherwise specified as an online course.
ED-4460-4 Intermediate/Senior Science 1 (taught in French)
This course provides an introduction to basic pedagogical concepts and skills needed for the successful and effective teaching of science to Intermediate/Senior school students. Using the concepts of general science and the provincial science curriculum, the course examines the nature and limitations of teaching, learning and technology within the Canadian science classroom context.
Section 4 is offered in French to students in the Intermediate/Senior cohort of our Bachelor of Education (français langue seconde) program, Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 9:00am to 11:50am, July 3 to July 24.
ED-4560-4 Sciences humaines 1 – (taught in French)
This course promotes dynamic teaching methods and inclusive approaches to inspire learners in grades 7-12 and to elevate the quality of teaching and learning through Social Studies at the Intermediate/Senior levels. Grounded in the needs of twenty-first century learners, this course offers concrete ways to create more vibrant, engaging, playful, supportive and inviting environments for this core curriculum area to give all learners dignity and honour their diverse ways of learning.
Section 4 is offered in French to students in the Intermediate/Senior cohort of our Bachelor of Education (français langue seconde) program, Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 1:00pm to 3:50pm, July 3 to July 24.
ED-6310 Leadership in Postcolonial Education (2 sections)
In this course, students consider postcolonial history and key texts as they critically examine a variety of theoretical frameworks within postcolonial education. The postcolonial context of education within particular Indigenous and colonized societies provides a major focus for the course. The role of educational leaders in negotiating complex change in specific contexts is considered.
Section 31 is offered to students in our MEd Special Cohort for College Educators and Leaders, Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:20pm, July 15 to July 19. Section 99 is offered to students in our MEd Focus on Global Perspectives, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9:00am to 11:50am, July 2 to July 30.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will have a Masters of Education degree. Successful candidates will normally have school-based experience in a Canadian public K-12 system. For applicants without school-based experience, teaching in other contexts relevant and appropriate to the position will be considered. Applicants should have experience in teaching, research or practice related to the course content.
Qualified candidates with seniority on the ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ Faculty of Education’s Sessional Roster and the Faculty’s full-time and term contract faculty members will be given priority.
