Student Research Assistant- Department of Psychology- Faculty of Arts
$16.60 per hour (plus 4% vacation pay)

Join a research project directed toward measuring student music-related abilities (from memory for pop music to pitch discrimination) in a laboratory with longstanding expertise in music perception and music cognition. The project requires the assistance of students with a background in psychology and an interest in music, and/or audiology. Assistants are expected to apply their knowledge in learning various skills for developing tests to be administered online, data analysis, and data presentation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The work will entail the following:
- Developing, refining, and administering Qualtrics programs for music psychology research
- Statistical analysis and reporting
- Administering and analyzing on-line hearing tests
- Web-site and social media development and updating
- Training other team members in use of programs or acquiring skills
- Other tasks that may arise related to the research
QUALIFICATIONS:
Priority will be given to students with several years background in psychology.
The following are regarded as essential

- Courses in psychological (or other) statistics
- Experience working with a research team
- Ability to create Qualtrics surveys
- Ability to carry out multi-factorial ANOVA’s
- Evidence of academic achievement

- Courses in music psychology
- Music background
- HTML, Excel, Qualtrics
- Working toward honours degree
- Experience in presentation at scientific meetings
