Counsellor - Student Affairs - Student Experience Hub
$79,445 to $88,080 per annum, prorated to time and term
January 22, 2024 – January 24, 2025 (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding, and departmental requirements)
The Department of Student Affairs at the ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ (ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ) invites applications for a Personal/Academic Counsellor. This position reports directly to the Director of Student Affairs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core responsibilities for the position will include:
- Provision of short-term personal counselling and academic advising services to students
- Design and delivery of various mental health and personal development initiatives and outreach activities for our student population
- Active participation in the campus community is also required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A degree at the Masters level, or greater, in Educational Counselling, or related discipline with a minimum of 3 years related work experience
- Specific expertise and experience in counselling students in post-secondary education is preferred
- Candidate must have, or be clearly eligible and willing to obtain, the Counselling Therapist title with the College of Counselling Therapists in PEI (CCTPEI); similar provincial licensure may be considered
- The ideal candidate will possess a background working with university students in educational development and planning
- Crisis response training and experience would be valuable to this position
- Skills in triage and effective referrals to community resources and managing consultation with medical and psychiatric resources are essential
- Experience and comfort working with a diverse student population reflecting the reality of today’s campus, including issues of culture, gender, orientation, and equity are required; lived experience in these areas would be an asset
