The Faculty of Education at the ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ has openings for sessional instructors to teach the following courses in Winter 2025. The offering of the courses is conditional pending final enrolment numbers. All positions are subject to final budgetary and administrative approval. 

Please note: the courses offered below will be taught in person, unless otherwise specified as an online course.

ED-6250 Curriculum: Leadership in Learning (2 sections)

In this course, students examine research into recent curriculum developments that are based on principles of integration, resource-based learning, and holistic learning, and which require the use of alternative assessment approaches. In addition, the impact of these developments on teachers’ instructional strategies and students’ learning are investigated. The focus is on the integration of knowledge about curriculum design and teaching in order to develop leadership skills for curriculum change.

This course is taught from January 6 to April 4 2025.  Section 76 is taught on campus to students in our MEd Focus on Global Perspectives on Tuesdays from 11:30am to 2:30pm.  Section 77 is taught on campus to students in our MEd Focus on Global Perspectives on Wednesdays from 3:00pm to 6:00pm.

ED-6320-75  Leadership in Languages & Literacies

In this course, students address the role of educational leaders in the implementation of policies and practices sustaining languages and literacies in particular contexts. A variety of theoretical frameworks and principles of language learning and plurilingualism are considered. Successes and challenges related to leadership in language retention and the development of multi-literacies in education are carefully examined.

This course is taught to students in our MEd Focus on Global Perspectives on Wednesdays from 8:30am to 11:30am from January 6 to April 4, 2025.

ED-6330 Multiliteracies & New Literacies (2 sections)

This course introduces students to theories of literacy as situated social practice. Drawing on theories of Multiliteracies and New Literacies as developed in classic and current readings, students will be given the opportunity to consider how such theories connect to issues of school, work, and leisure. Students will also be encouraged to experiment with using a variety of Multiliteracies as they work through the course material.

This course is taught to students in our MEd Focus on Global Perspectives from January 6 to April 4, 2025. Section 76 is taught on Mondays from 2:30pm to 5:30pm.  Section 77 is taught on Tuesdays from 8:30am to 11:30am.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates for courses up to the 6000 level will have a Masters of Education or equivalent degree.  Candidates at the 7000 level must have completed a doctoral degree in Education.  Successful candidates will normally have school-based experience in a Canadian public K-12 system.  For applicants without school-based experience, teaching in other contexts relevant and appropriate to the position will be considered. Applicants should have experience in teaching, research or practice related to the course content. 

Qualified candidates with seniority on the ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ Faculty of Education’s Sessional Roster and the Faculty’s full-time and term contract faculty members will be given priority.
