Tenure Track Position - Department of Sociology and Anthropology - Faculty of Arts
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the 秀色短视频 (秀色短视频) acknowledges that 秀色短视频 is located on the unceded land of the Mi鈥檏maq Nation, of the Wabanaki Confederacy, in the traditional district of Epekwitk. We welcome applications for a tenure-track position in Sociology. This position opens at a dynamic time in the Department as we just developed thematic streams of focus operating in conjunction with the University鈥檚 strategic and academic priorities. We aim to intensify interdisciplinary linkages across the campus, including Faculty of Arts programs in Diversity and Social Justice Studies (DSJS); Applied Communication, Leadership, and Culture (ACLC); the Faculty of Science program in Environmental Studies; and\or the Faculty of Indigenous Knowledge, Education, Research, and Applied Studies. We are also a faculty committed to developing students as research scholars as part of their undergraduate experience. In view of this we favour experiential learning inside and outside the classroom.
The prospective candidate will teach sociological theory (classical and contemporary) and courses in two or more of the following five thematic streams of our Department: a) Indigenous Worlds and Colonialism b) Health, Culture and Society c) Inequalities: Social, Economic & Environmental d) Social relationships, Intersectionality and Life Forms, and e) Media, Culture and Society. The ability to teach qualitative or quantitative methods, and/or mixed methods will be considered an asset.
This appointment is expected to start on January 1, 2024, subject to final budgetary approval.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have a completed, or nearly completed, doctoral degree in sociology, a record of successful teaching, a dynamic or promising record of scholarly research and publishing, a commitment to collegial and collaborative relationships, and a capacity and interest in working across disciplines.
In accordance with the 秀色短视频 Strategic Plan, the ability to involve students in research projects will be considered an asset.
The salary is commensurate with credentials and experience. This appointment is subject to budgetary approval.
