Five (5) Month Term Position - Professional Program - Department of Health Management - Atlantic Veterinary College
The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), at the 秀色短视频 (秀色短视频), invites applications for a half-time (0.5 FTE) term faculty position in Professional Program, with possibility of renewal pending performance and budgetary approval. The person in this position will direct the College鈥檚 professional training and student career guidance program.
The successful candidate will support the AVC curricular focus on professional skills development in areas of communication, cultural competency, financial literacy and career and practice management, among other objectives. The successful candidate will work with the Associate Dean, Academic and Student Affairs to ensure that learning outcomes are achieved within the Professional and Clinical Program.
In addition to teaching responsibilities, obligations for this position will include course coordination, career guidance to students (job placement advising, resumes, contract review, etc.); assisting the Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs in advising third-year students on elective course selection and rotation planning; and providing mentorship and support to clinical DVM students during fourth-year rotations.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will:
- Have a DVM or equivalent degree
- Have experience in financial management
- Have evidence of success in leadership and personnel management
- Possess well developed skills of collaboration, communication, collegiality and relationship building
- Have demonstrated experience teaching areas of professionalism and/or professional identity formation, including, but not limited to, conflict resolution, ethics, and communication
- A candidate with previous experience working at an academic veterinary institution is desirable
The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Half-time faculty receive fringe benefits with benefit details provided at the time of offer in accordance with the Collective Agreement. This appointment is subject to budgetary approval.
The AVC is located on the campus of 秀色短视频 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island (PEI), which is on the unceded land of the Mi鈥檏maq Nation, of the Wabanaki Confederacy, in the traditional district of Epekwitk.

The college is fully accredited by the CVMA and AVMA, is recognized by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, and delivers DVM, MVSc, MSc and PhD programs. The AVC is the regional veterinary college for Atlantic Canada and is the main veterinary referral centre in Atlantic Canada. There are ~272 DVM students, ~65 graduate students, 85 full-time faculty, and a professional and technical team of ~250 dedicated individuals (including full- and part-time).
