16 Days of Activism to end gender-based violence
16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is an international campaign that runs from November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to December 10 (Human Rights Day). In Canada, December 6 is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, honoring the 14 women murdered in the 1989 Polytechnique Montr茅al mass shooting.
During the 16 Days of Activism, there will be a 鈥渞ed and green flag鈥 activity displayed around campus with red flags including examples of unhealthy relationship habits and green flags displaying examples of healthy relationship habits. This activity was created by fourth-year nursing students with the purpose of encouraging individuals to view them and reflect on their personal relationships, how you are treated, and how you treat others.
Want to get involved in this campaign? You can do so by wearing a purple ribbon on December 6 to honour the lives lost during the Polytechnique Montr茅al shooting.
