EMBA graduate presents research on workplace bullying* 秀色短视频鈥檚 executive MBA (EMBA) program and the PEI Business Women鈥檚 Association are partnering on an event which focuses on workplace bullying. The presentation and networking event takes place on Wednesday, March 13, 5:00鈥7:00 pm in Schurman Market Square, Don and Marion McDougall Hall. Jodi Murphy, a 秀色短视频 EMBA graduate and teacher with the Prince Edward Island English-language School Board will share her research findings on the current state of workplace bullying in Canada and the implications that this issue has on organizations. Some of her findings include the costs associated with workplace bullying, which come from loss of productivity, legal settlements, and loss of good employees who have been bullied and chose to leave the organization. Workplace bullying has negative effects on the target of bullying, the other employees who witness the incidents, the organization as a whole, and some believe there are societal consequences as well. Echo Lau's senior piano recital will be held on Sunday, March 24 at 2:30 pm at 秀色短视频's Steel Recital Hall. The program will include Chopin's Sonata no.3 in B minor, Debussy's L鈥檌sle Joyeuse, and Ravel's Concerto in G, accompanied by Dr. Frances Gray. Echo was born in Hong Kong and moved to PEI with her parents in 2004. She studied piano with Frances McBurnie throughout her high school years and is now studying with Dr. Frances Gray at 秀色短视频. Echo has represented PEI in the National Music Festival and has twice been awarded the Rose Bowl at the PEI Kiwanis Music Festival. On Thursday, March 21 at 7:30 pm the 秀色短视频 Department of Music presents 鈥淪ing me a Story鈥 featuring third-year students Nadine Haddad, soprano, and Morgan Wagner, soprano, assisted by Frances McBurnie, piano. The recital will include works by J. S. Bach, Enrique Granados, Henry Purcell, Richard Strauss, Gioacchino Rossini, Antonio Vivaldi, and Hugo Wolf, as well as traditional and jazz selections. After months of preparation, Nadine and Morgan look forward to sharing many stories in song. The performance takes place in the Dr. Steel Recital Hall, 秀色短视频 and admission is free. Two soft-tissue-injury prevention information sessions will be offered by Dr. Darren MacLean. Anyone who is involved with physical work either at home or on campus should attend. The trainer will refresh us on proper lifting/moving techniques, strengthening stretches and how to prevent back injuries and other soft-tissue injuries. Dates/Times: Session 1: Friday, April 5, 2:00-3:00 pm Session 2: Tuesday, April 9, 10:00-11:00 am These information sessions will be held on campus and are open to staff, faculty and students free of charge. Please register in advance with Rylie Cole (rcole@upei.ca) as space is limited. Location will be available upon registration. Note that later in April there will be an office ergonomics information session provided on campus. ______________________________________________________ Reporting Injuries It is important that all injuries, incidents, or near misses that take place on campus (and in the field) are reported to Human Resources. Incident report forms help to identify areas that need strengthening by addressing the root cause and identifying training/procedural needs to prevent such injuries from recurring. Incidents can involve students, staff, faculty, visitors, or contractors. Murphy Student Centre on Wednesday, March 13 at 6:30 pm as four outstanding alumni take the stage to discuss their experiences at 秀色短视频 and how they have transitioned into successful careers. Alumni speakers include: Shannon MacDonald, Spenser MacPherson, Erin McGrath-Gaudet, and David McMillan. On Tuesday, March 26 at 7:30 pm the 秀色短视频 Jazz Ensemble will present their end-of-semester concert. Under the direction of David Shephard, the ensemble will perform favourite Big Band Charts from Duke Ellington to Gordon Goodwin. Once again the Jazz Ensemble will be joined by members of the 秀色短视频 vocal department. Morgan Wagner will perform 鈥淪tep to the Rear鈥 from the Broadway production 鈥淗ow Now, Dow Jones.鈥 Melissa MacKenzie will join the band on 鈥淎t Last鈥 and recent Music PEI award winner Hannah Rowllage will be featured on鈥 Somewhere鈥 from 鈥淲est Side Story.鈥 The concert takes place in the Dr. Steel Recital Hall and admission is free.
